ลาโงกับพ่อค้า

There was a merchant who lived far away from town.

มีพ่อค้าอยู่คนหนึ่งอาศัยอยู่นอกเมือง

The merchant kept a donkey to help him carrying goods.

พ่อค้าคนนี้มีลาอยู่หนึ่งตัวสำหรับใช้แบกสินค้า

One day, he wanted to sell his salt in town, so he loaded the salt on his donkey.

วันหนึ่ง พ่อค้าต้องการที่จะนำเกลือไปขายในเมือง เขาจึงนำเกลือวางไว้บนหลังลา

On the way to the town, the merchant had to get across a stream.

Reaching the stream, the merchant found the bridge over it was very destroyed.

A lot of salt on the donkey got melted in the stream.

The merchant wasn't satisfied with the incident but the donkey was happy.

Many days later, the merchant took the salt to sell in town again. The donkey pretended to walk slowly when crossing the stream.

หลายวันต่อมา พ่อค้านำเกลือเข้าไปขายในเมืองอีกครั้ง เจ้าลาจึงแกล้งทำเป็นเดินช้าขณะที่ข้ามลำธาร

It used the same trick again and again until the merchant knew its trick.

มันใช้แผนนี้หลายครั้งจนกระทั่งพ่อค้ารู้ทัน

On their next journey, the merchant made a plan to teach his donkey by loading it with sponge and wool.

ในการเดินทางครั้งต่อมา พ่อค้าวางแผนที่จะดัดนิสัยเจ้าลาโดยนำฟองน้ำและขนแกะไปไว้บนหลังลา

When reaching the stream, the donkey used the same trick again.

But this time, things weren't the same.

Sponge and wool absorbed water, causing the loads on its back more heavier that the donkey was almost unable to make a move.
